Lionshare Newsletter – 30th Edition | September Y25

NOTE FROM THE CEO

Dear Lionshare Pride,

As I reflect on the past few months, I am filled with pride for what we have achieved together. From Mozambique to South Africa, our pride has continued to grow—not only in business, but in spirit.

This past winter reminded us of who we are at our core. We celebrated three years of Lionshare Auto Group in Mozambique, a story of bold vision and hard work paying off. We came together on Mandela Day, where our teams across two countries reached into their communities to serve those who needed us the most. I had the privilege of sharing my birthday with hundreds of the homeless and less fortunate, an experience that touched me deeply and reminded me that true leadership is measured in service.

The launch of the City Deep bus facility, a new chapter in our journey of building and transforming industries. It is a symbol of progress, but more importantly, a reminder of how far we have come since our beginnings at Powerhouse.

Now, as spring arrives, we turn towards Heritage Month and the floating CEO Cup. This is more than a competition—it is an expression of our unity, celebrate our diversity and our pride as Lionshare. Last year Powerhouse lifted the trophy; this year, we wait to see who will rise to the challenge. I encourage each of you to get excited to bring your culture, creativity and passion to this celebration.

Our story is not just about numbers or projects—it is about people, about us the pride of lions.

The CEO Cup Returns – Spring & Heritage Month

As the season shifts, we welcome spring—a time of freshness, renewal and energy. But September is more than blooming trees and warmer days; it is Heritage Month, when we celebrate our cultures, traditions and roots.

This is also the moment when the Lionshare CEO Cup takes centre stage. More than just a competition, it is a celebration of who we are as a diverse and united pride. From the dishes prepared to the cultural outfits displayed, each contribution becomes part of our story. Last year, Powerhouse became the 1st champions to hold the trophy. The question now is: will they defend their title or will a new team rise to the challenge? The answer lies in the spirit of participation, creativity and pride that each of us brings!

LAG Mozambique TurnED 3 years old.

This winter, our pride reached a milestone worth celebrating. We marked our third anniversary in Mozambique. What began as an ambitious step into new territory has grown into a cornerstone of transport in the region. Over the past 3 years, the team has built relationships, overcome challenges and established a reputation for excellence. Our success is not only measured in numbers, but in the trust we’ve earned from operators, partners and communities. LAG Mozambique stands today as a symbol of resilience, growth and the enduring spirit of Lionshare.

In August 2022, Lionshare hosted its 1st event, featuring a presentation and lunch. This gathering brought together our entire team from across the country in Maputo. We exchanged ideas, fostered connections and engaged in various team-building activities.

Mr C’s Birthday – A Celebration Shared

ree

Birthdays are often personal, yet our CEO’s surprise birthday is all about giving back and this year’s celebration became more about him giving than receiving! Organised by One Moment Foundation and the Lionshare Head Office team, the day was spent not with dignitaries or executives, but with hundreds of homeless and less privileged people. Cake and food were shared by him personally, turning his birthday into a message: leadership is not measured by titles or offices, but by compassion and generosity. For everyone who witnessed it, this was a reminder that at the heart of Lionshare lies service.

Sand River Resort – Customer Day

ree

Sand River Resort marked an exciting milestone by hosting its Customer Day in July. The event brought together customer in a spirit of appreciation and celebration.

As a token of gratitude, the resort presented 32 personalised chairs to its customers at V Slot—each one a unique reminder of the bond between Sand River and the people who make its story possible.

It was more than a gift; it was a gesture of lasting connection, showing that at Sand River Resort, every customer is valued and every relationship is worth celebrating.

Giving Back with Heart – “Customer is King” champions

ree

This year, LAG Mozambique not only celebrated three years of service, but also set an example of what it means to lead with purpose. After winning the prestigious Customer is King Prize from the CEO, for their dedication to customers during difficult times, the team faced a choice: celebrate themselves or serve others.

In true Lionshare spirit, they chose to give back. Instead of using the prize money for a well-deserved treat, they used it to provide blankets and relief to communities affected by the riots and shutdowns in Mozambique. It was a decision that spoke volumes—not just about resilience in business, but about compassion in action.

Their story is a reminder that success is sweetest when it is shared.

Mandela Day – A Spirit of Ubuntu

ree

July brought with it the reminder that our work is not only about business, but about people. Across South Africa and Mozambique, Lionshare teams came together to honour Mandela Day. Meals were cooked and served, donations were made and the homeless, sick and orphaned were shown love and dignity. It was a moving day that reminded us of the power of Ubuntu—that we exist because of one another. The pride stood tall, not in what we gained, but in what we gave.

This year was special in Mozambique, it was hosted by the SACBM (South African Chamber of Business in Mozambique).

Mbodla – A New Chapter for Lionshare

ree

We are proud to introduce Mbodla, our newest business venture and a bold step into the future of sustainable industry. Mbodla was born from a joint venture between Lionshare Holdings and Tinna Rubber & Infrastructure Limited, a company from India with footprints in Oman, Saudi Arabia other multiple locations. Tinna is one of the world’s leading innovators in tyre recycling, waste-to-value manufacturing and infrastructure materials.

This venture is the reason behind our acquisition of the City Deep property, which will serve as the foundation for our operations. Mbodla will focus on tyre recycling and circular economy solutions, turning waste into opportunity and ensuring Lionshare continues to drive innovation in manufacturing and sustainability.

More than just a new business, Mbodla represents growth, foresight and responsibility. By investing in industries that not only create value but also protect the environment, we are shaping a future that serves both our communities and our planet.

City Deep Bus Facility – Officially Launched

ree

Alongside moments of giving, we also achieved a major business milestone.

The City Deep bus facility was officially launched, introducing a transition of Powerhouse that expands the reach of Just a bus rank. Bus operators now have access to more services than ever before, positioning the facility as a hub of growth and opportunity. It is more than a building; it is a promise of progress, a foundation on which we will continue to build the future of transport.
